Changing the leaderboard group names

As an admin, you can customize the names of groups on the leaderboard. This is useful for displaying more recognizable team names or for merging multiple groups for display on the leaderboard, without affecting the official group structure or statistics. This guide explains how to do this.

How to adjust the display name

Step 1: Log in to the admin portal

Step 2: Go to game → groups leaderboard

Step 3: Click to open the desired group

Step 4: Go to settings → game

Step 5: Fill in leaderboard name (optional) with the desired name

Step 6: Click save. The new name is immediately visible on the leaderboard.

Tips for clear leaderboard names

• Short and recognizable
• Consistent naming
• Agree on one spelling convention and use it everywhere, especially when combining groups.
• Don't use internal abbreviations or system codes that are unclear to employees

Frequently asked questions

Does this also change the real group name?

No. You're only changing the display name on the leaderboard. The original group name in your organization management remains the same.

Does this work if we're connected to Entra ID (Azure AD)?

Yes. With an Entra connection, you can safely use the "Leaderboard name". This has no effect on the group name or mapping in Entra ID.

Where does the custom name appear?

On the group leaderboards in the Academy and, where applicable, in the admin/partner environment.
